1. Have a good idea of what the story might be before you begin your reporting. That way you're thinking about potential ledes from the start.2. As you're taking notes, mark passages or quotations that support the potential ledes rolling around in your head.
3. When you start to write, see how far you can get without looking at your notes. Then go through the notes to fill in the blanks for quotes, examples, etc.
